The historic premises of Conservas Ortiz in the port of Ondarroa, which manages the production & processing of the famous white tuna Bonito del Norte, visited the team of TROFELIA Promoting Food / GLOBAL FOODS group, with the participation of chefs and associates during its 4th educational trip at San Sebastian region, January 8-12, 2020. The team had the chance to taste premium quality specialties and canapé with tuna, anchovies and seafood. Conservas Ortiz established its first canning factory in Ondarroa in 1891, just a few blocks from the fishing port. The original factory still operates, employing many of the city’s women in cooking, cleaning and packing tuna in jars and cans.
