San Marzano PDO peeled tomatoes, the caresses of Vesuvius, are grown exclusively in the Sarno and Nocera areas, east of the volcano. San Marzano takes its name from the small town of San Marzano sul Sarno, where it was first cultivated after the mid-18th century. It is sour, with a characteristic muslin on the edge, 6 to 8 cm long, fleshy, but with enough moisture and very few seeds. The quantities that are cultivated are small and that is why they quickly become popular. Perfect for pizza.
