Murcia al Vino (pronounced MOOR-thia al VEE-no) is a distinctive cheese made from goat’s milk in the southeastern Spanish region of Murcia, near the Mediterranean. During its maturation, it is washed and soaked in local red wine, developing a deep purple rind and a subtle, tangy aroma. As a PDO cheese, Murcia al Vino celebrates the region’s rich goat dairy tradition (with milk from the Murciana breed) and its wine-making heritage. It is the only European goat cheese matured in red wine.
