Description
Verjuice or “Agourida” is an excellent quality traditional product of Crete. It is the juice produced by pressing fresh, unripe grapes. In the past, when lemons were not imported into Greece, the gherkin was the alternative lemon in Crete for the summer months. It is a very aromatic product, refreshingly acidic, with a refined taste and slight sweetness. It is used in cooking and pastry, goes wonderfully with boiled greens, and serves as an ingredient for salad dressing.In addition to traditional uses, we can use it as an ingredient in cocktails replacing lemon or lime, or in combination with them, for a particularly tasty result, with an aromatic aftertaste, giving it a delicate acidic note.
