Visiting Fromagerie Agour

The famous Fromagerie Agour in Hellette, on the French Basque Country, which produces and matures award-winning PDO & PGI cheeses, visited the team of TROFELIA Promoting Food / GLOBAL FOODS group – with the participation of chefs and associates – during their 4th gastronomic trip to San Sebastian, 8-12 January,2020. The team had the opportunity to know local and regional cheeses, such as Ossau-Iraty which has been awarded in international competitions as one of the best cheeses in the world, as well as a range of excellent sheep and goat cheeses. Local milk production, the enrichment of certain cheeses with Piment D ‘Espelette, herbs and other products, animal breeding, the microclimate and the environmental conditions, add a strong aroma and a unique taste to the local cheeses. Agour’s story begins in 1981 when a group of Basques passionate about working and living in their region, decided to stay there and develop local husbandry.
